Car hire excess insurance for motorhomes

Q) My wife and I are holidaying in New Zealand and intend to hire a 2 berth motorhome/camper van for a 31 day period to tour both North Island and South Island.  Our ages are 61 and 66 respectively and we are both in good health.  We have not yet chosen the hire company and in this respect it would be immensely helpful to know if you offer motorhome excess insurance and the likely cost.

A) I regret that we do not cover Motorhomes.

Motor home insurance cover

Q) Hello, I`m going to buy a worldwide 60 days excess cover insurance for £79.00 for my round the world trip. I’ll have rental cars in the USA and New Zealand. In Austalia I’ll have a so called Combo Camper (Holden Combo) for 56 days with an excess of 1000 AUD (£500). Is it possible to cover this at an additional amount?

A) Unfortunately we do not cover for Combo campers.

Daily excess cover for Australasia

Q) We are holidaying in Tasmania during Sept 09 and would like to use your insurance for that period of car hire. We live in Wollongong NSW Australia and are Australian citizens. My husband will be the principal driver and I will also drive. He is 76 and I am 69. Could you give us details of the cost for this cover.

A) Our daily policy is £4.50 day which will cover yourself and your husband. We do have age restrictions on the daily policy (21-74) which would mean you would have to be the main driver and as long as your husband is mentioned on the car rental agreement he would automatically be covered too.

Australian car rental companies covered

Q) Hi, I just wanted to confirm that you cover all car rental hire companies all through Australia, and how much excess do you cover? Do I have to pay any excess at all?

A) It is not important which car rental company you rent a car from as we are independent from the car rental company. We cover up to £2000 in any one accident and £3000 in any one year.

We do not charge any excess.
